| The
Diesel Car represents an enormous opportunity for reliable low
cost tuning, without spoiling any of the principle reasons
for buying a Diesel Engine Vehicle in the first place, i.e.
Economy of operation and longevity. Diesel engines fall into
three categories, and depending on which category your engine
is, dictates how much performance can be achieved.
Diesel
Engines without intercooler, and with mechanical injection
pump, this is a car that will achieve a very small improvements
from increasing boost pressure, advancing and increasing fuel
delivery, typically 15 bhp and about 20% more torque. Most
engines will benifit from a free flowing air filter. If you

Diesel
Engine with intercooler, with mechanical injection pump,
this engine can achieve good results, typically up to 30 BHP
and 30% more torque, however, due to the mechanical pump not
being controlled to very close tolerances when initially accelerating
some smoke may have to be tolerated while the turbo is producing
initial boost. A free flow air filter will help this problem
a lot.
Diesel
Engine with & without Intercoolers, and with Electronic
Fuel Injection, these engines are the latest evolvement
and are superb to tune, it will achieve up to 50 BHP and 60%
more torque, WITHOUT SMOKE, in any part of the operating cycle.
